BA, Fine Art, Minor in Chemistry, College of William and Mary

After receiving my Fine Art degree in 1985, I worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, commercial artist, and an art director for news publications and advertising agencies. I had my own business doing freelance commercial art. Over time, I became interested in combining my interest in psychology with art-making.

MS, Art Therapy and Counseling, Eastern Virginia Medical School

My interest in the above combination led me to pursuing my degree in art therapy and counseling. I have been a practicing art therapist since 2002. There is an intrinsically healing aspect to art- making and by using art therapy approaches, you can find meaning, insight, and healing through the art process.

ATR-BC

I have been a Board Certified Art Therapist since 2005, having demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the theories and clinical skills used in art therapy practice and working within the ethical guidelines of the ATCB Code of Ethics, Conduct, and Disciplinary Procedures. The ATR-BC means that one has met the highest level of requirements to practice art therapy.

LPC, State of Virginia

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009. My approach to counseling is collaborative and holistic. You and I will work together to develop counseling goals that will assist you in utilizing your resources, building resiliency, and in cultivating wellness.

NCC

Since 2008, I have been a National Certified Counselor. A Board Certified Counselor means that one has voluntarily earned the highest national standards for counseling practice.

Since July 25, 2020, I have been a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, using neuropsychologically informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat anxiety, panic, and worry.
